Our Voice

“These are unsettling times…”

At Common Talks we believe it is good to be unsettled, to be disrupted from our comfort- to pay close attention, to reach for one another, to listen well, and to care deeply about what is happening in our world.

We are committed to listening and learning from our community. On this page we will share some of the voices that have inspired us to find our rightful places in the social justice movements of our time.

“a riot is the language of the unheard…” -MLK

Common Talks stands, with our hearts- and our bodies- in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives. We commit to listening deeply to the voices of rage, pain and power from within Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities. We live in witness to a grave legacy of genocide, terror, trauma and the systemic disenfranchisement of Communities of Color, rooted in white supremacy and reinforced by racist ideology.

We resolve to work tirelessly for transformational change, and toward the co-creation of a new human community founded on equity, healing justice and reparation. In this, we choose to center the voices and leadership of people most impacted by injustice.

We call on you to join us. Our very humanity and survival are at stake.
