Our Team

Shavana Talbert serves as the Director of Equity and Inclusion at the Minnesota Department of Human Services. In addition, she consults with non-profits, academic institutions, and corporate brands to promote transformational change through the co-creation of spaces grounded in equity, social justice, dignity, and healing.

Shavana has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology and African American Studies from Stanford University, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She serves as a lead trainer, consultant, and Intercultural Development Inventory ™ Qualified Administrator with Common Talks Consulting.

Marijke van Roojen has dedicated her professional life to two broad disciplines: Maternal Child Health with an emphasis on access, workforce development and culturally concordant and responsive care, and Community-Based Mediation, transformative justice and race-equity education.

As a certified conflict resolution specialist with over 30 years of experience, Ms. van Roojen serves as the white-half of a cross-race training and consulting team with Common Talks and with the Chicago-based firm QUAD DEI Consultants. She is an Intercultural Development InventoryTM Qualified Administrator and holds a Masters in Public Health in Maternal Child Health from University of Minnesota.
